I-80 is the cross-country route that runs along the southern edge of the Chicago area. It passes through the Joliet area where it meets I-55, then continues through the south suburbs and, near the Indiana line, joins I-94. It also meets I-355 near New Lenox and I-294 and I-57 in the south suburbs.

I-80 runs along the southern edge of the Chicago area. It meets I-55 at Joliet, I-355 near New Lenox, and I-294 and I-57 in the south suburbs, and near the Indiana line it joins I-94. A large share of the trucks on it are long-haul units that are far from their home yard.
